Before you write: one thing I genuinely cannot do
I cannot advise you about your specific baby. Not because I do not want to — because it would be irresponsible and, frankly, useless. I am a parent who researches and writes about infant sleep. I am not a pediatrician, a nurse, or a certified sleep consultant. I have never examined your child, I do not know their weight curve, feeding history, birth history, temperature, or medical background, and no email you could write would give me enough of it to say anything worth acting on.
So if your message is some version of “here is what my baby is doing, what should I do?” — the honest answer I will send back is that this belongs with your pediatrician. If something feels urgent right now, do not wait for my reply or anyone else’s. Call your pediatrician or your local emergency number. Breathing difficulty, unusual limpness or lethargy, refusing feeds, a fever in a very young infant, or simply a strong parental instinct that something is wrong are all reasons to call a human being who can see your baby today.
What I can do is explain what a chart on this site means, where a number came from, and which published source it traces back to. That part I am happy to do at length.
What to put in the subject line
Rough triage, and rough honesty about how fast each type gets handled:
| Subject line | Use it when | Typical reply |
|---|---|---|
| Correction | A number, a citation, or a claim on this site looks wrong to you — including if a linked source has moved or been updated. | Usually within 48 hours. These jump the queue. |
| Schedule question | A chart or calculator result did not make sense for your baby, or you cannot tell which age band applies. | 3–5 days. Answers are general, never baby-specific. |
| Accessibility | Something here is hard to use with a screen reader, a keyboard, at large text sizes, or one-handed on a phone. | Treated as a bug. Acknowledged within 48 hours. |
| Broken page | A link 404s, a calculator returns something impossible, or a page will not load on your device. | 48 hours, plus a note of what was fixed. |
| Press or interview | You are writing about parenting, infant sleep information quality, or independent parenting sites. | About a week. |
| Suggest a topic | There is a sleep question you searched for and could not get a straight answer to anywhere. | No promise of a reply, but every one gets read. |
Corrections get priority, and here is why
This is a site about infant sleep, which means an error here is not a typo — it is a tired parent making a decision on bad information at 4am. I would rather be publicly corrected than quietly wrong.
If you write to say something is inaccurate, you do not need to be polite about it and you do not need to prove your credentials. Point at the page, quote the sentence, and tell me what you think is off. If you have a source, wonderful. If you do not, I will go looking. Substantive corrections get a dated note on the page itself rather than a silent edit — the reasoning behind that is written up on the editorial process page.
Clinicians, in particular: if you work in pediatrics, sleep medicine, lactation, or public health and you spot something on this site that misrepresents guidance in your field, please tell me. I will take that seriously and I will credit you if you would like to be credited.
Privacy of what you send
Your email arrives in an ordinary Gmail inbox. I do not add correspondents to any mailing list — there is no newsletter to add you to. I do not sell, share, or hand your address to anyone, and I do not use messages for advertising. If you send me a story and I ever want to quote any part of it publicly, I will ask you first and I will not name you unless you say I can.
You can ask me to delete your message and your address from the inbox at any time and I will do it. The full detail of what this site collects and what it does not is on the privacy policy page.
Things I will not answer
To save you the typing: I do not accept guest posts, sponsored posts, paid link placements, or “content partnerships”, and I do not host third-party sections on this domain. Not as a negotiating position — the answer is simply no, permanently. Emails offering to “collaborate on a piece” or to buy a link go to spam unread.
I also cannot look at photographs of your baby, review your video monitor footage, or tell you whether a specific product is safe for your child. Safety questions about products belong with the manufacturer and your pediatrician, and safe-sleep questions belong with the sources this site links out to rather than with me.
If you would rather not email
The bedtime audio I make lives on YouTube at Stories for Babies, and comments there get read too — though email is far more reliable if you need an actual answer. There is no phone number, no live chat, and no mailing address for this site; it is one person writing in the gaps of her own parenting, and pretending otherwise would be its own kind of dishonesty.
If you are new here and arrived on this page first, the tools themselves are all free and need no account — start from the homepage, or read a little more about who is behind this before you trust any of it.
